The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) recently hosted a dialogue with a German delegation led by Ms. Leonie Gebers, State Secretary of the German Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (BMAS). The dialogue aimed at boosting collaboration in skill development and facilitating skilled workforce mobility.

Strategic Proposals and Outcomes

The dialogue, chaired by Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari, resulted in proposals to address workforce shortages in Germany. Key outcomes include sector mapping for employment potential, mutual recognition of qualifications, and formulation of SOPs for the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA). These strategic initiatives set the stage for future collaborations.

Strengthening Indo-German Ties

Shri Atul Kumar Tiwari emphasized the significance of the India-Germany partnership. The dialogue, focusing on preparing Indian candidates for global mobility, is a crucial step in fortifying ties. The outcomes pave the way for robust collaborations in skill development and workforce mobility.

Praising BMAS for their work on the new migration law, the Indian delegation suggested ideas to improve the mobility of skilled Indian workers to Germany. This includes mapping sectors with job opportunities, recognizing qualifications, creating SOPs or a framework for the Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA), establishing a dedicated Skill India International center focusing on Germany’s workforce needs, initiating collaborative projects for women in modern job roles, and providing mentorship support for entrepreneurs, among other suggestions.

Building Foundations for Future Collaborations

The dialogue, part of ongoing efforts through Indo-German Joint Working Group Meetings, laid a foundation for future engagements. The discussed action points are expected to yield positive outcomes in skill development and workforce mobility, enhancing collaboration between the two nations.
